Girls’ Levels
FHI Girls’ hockey is not bound by Tier II rules. FHI Yellowjackets girls will have the option to compete in either the Yellowjackets Girls’ House (YGH) program or the Yellowjackets Girls’ Travel (YGT) program.
Yellowjackets Girls’ House Program
Female players who wish to play at the YGH level will compete in the YYHL at a level that is competitive for the team. These teams also can enroll in tournaments at additional cost. The tournaments will be determined by the team coach, with input from each participant’s family.
The competitiveness of the team will be determined by the team’s coach and by the Girls’ Hockey Director. No girl who wishes to play in the YGH will be excluded. Fun, team play, and learning will be stressed throughout this program. Each player in the YGH will get approximately 50 home-ice touches that will be used for practices and home games.
Players will fall into the following age classifications within the YGH:
· 8U—8 years of age and younger
· 10U—10 years of age and younger
· 12U—12 years of age and younger
· 14U—14 years of age and younger
· 16U—16 years of age and younger
· 19U—19 years of age and younger
Yellowjackets Girls’ Travel Program
The Yellowjackets Girls’ Travel (YGT) program is for any female player who wishes to play at competitive Girls’ Travel Hockey levels, the Northern Illinois Hockey League’s girls’ league, and in additional tournaments. The tournaments will be at an additional cost and will be determined by the team coach, with input from each participant’s family.
The YGT program will be made up of players, of the same age divisions, who will be distributed on teams based on individual playing ability. Each player’s ability will be evaluated through tryouts, which will be held in August. Girls who are not placed on a YGT team will have an option of enrolling in the YGH or YHL programs. Each player in the YGT will get approximately 100 home-ice touches that will be used for practices and home games.
Players will fall into the following age classifications within the YGT:
· 8U—8 years of age and younger
· 10U—10 years of age and younger
· 12U—12 years of age and younger
· 14U—14 years of age and younger
