The Lady Yellowjackets took part in the 7th annual Puck Cancer tournament from August 12th through the 14th. For many of the ladies, this was their 7th year straight playing in the tournament. You may ask yourself, why do they return every year? The answer is simple. They do this to help others in need. They play because they can and others who suffer from cancer cannot. They raise money for a great cause, helping people in the Chicago area who are currently fighting cancer. When they take the ice during this tournament, they are fighting a different battle, cancer! This tournament was about team spirit, team bonding, and coming together as a hockey community to help others in need.

The Yellowjackets Women's Hockey Program (YWHP) is a recreational women’s ice hockey program made up of women ages 18 to 61. The women's program plays hockey at Crystal Ice House in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The YWHP is a fun, semi-competitive skills-based program that is committed to improving women's hockey skills, promoting camaraderie and growing women's hockey!
The players come from all backgrounds and levels of hockey experience. Some women have played since they were children, some just started this spring. But the one thing they have in common is that they all want to learn more about the game of hockey and have fun.
As part of their commitment to learning the game, they will have regular developmental sessions and games during the starting start in mid September.
The highlights of our YWHP are the:
- Exceptional quality of our skills-based programs at all levels
- Exceptional quality of our coaches, who believe in them
- Joy of playing the game of ice hockey
- Camaraderie, support, mutual respect, and encouragement among the women
