Yellowjackets Midget Tier II Program Minimize

Yellowjackets Midget Tier II Program

Major U18 & Minor U16

2010 will again represent a milestone year for Fire Wagon Hockey, Inc. as the organization announces its plan to organize a Midget Tier II Program to begin in April.

The program will consist of a combination of advanced skill development sessions and a competitive game schedule. An emphasis will be placed on practices over games and individual skills development over team building. The purpose of the program is to provide the opportunity for each individual player the ability to reach their goal potential.

The program will begin with a tryout in April 2010 with practices beginning in May. Teams will be formed at both the Major U18 and Minor U16 divisions.

Our organization has already accepted invitations to attend three premier midget-level tournaments in North America. The tournaments are scheduled for May, June, and August 2010. There are also plans for camps in June and July for all program players to attend. These camps are expected to work with top Northern and Midwest collegiate hockey programs to provide a unique experience for the participants.

Coaching positions for the team will be posted with the American Hockey Coaches Association and the Amateur Hockey Association Illinois (AHAI). Coaches interested in the opportunity of coaching one of the Yellowjackets Midget teams are encouraged to complete an on-line coaching application form on our Web site (www.firewagonhockey.com). Midget Tier II National Tournament-bound teams require a level-4 or above USA Hockey coaching certification.

The Yellowjackets are striving to offer the best experience for high school-aged hockey players in the area. The Yellowjackets will continue to offer a Midget B program. The YJ Midget B team currently participates in the Northwest Hockey League (NWHL).

More details on the Midget programs will be posted in February 2010.
