Tot Hockey and Hockey Learn-to-Skate programs are the cooperative efforts of the Crystal Ice House and the Yellowjackets Youth Hockey organization. Classes are 45 minutes long; 30 minutes of lesson and 15 minutes of practice. The hockey classes will run as 6-week Fall I & and Fall II sessions, and as 10-week Winter and Spring sessions. There is a yearly fee of $7.50 for registration to US Figure Skating for all participants. The yearly fee for USA Hockey registration is waived for children aged 6 years (birth year 2002) and younger (www.usahockeyregistration.com). For additional information, please visit either the Crystal Ice House Web site at www.crystalicehouse.com. Registrations are not accepted online. You must complete the registration form at the Crystal Ice House.
As a benefit of being a cooperative member, the Yellowjackets youth hockey organization will provide a starter kit, at no cost, for all tot hockey players aged 4 to 8 years enrolled in the Hockey 4 classes. The equipment either can be returned at the end of the session or purchased for $60. Each skater will receive a jersey as part of the class fee.
The starter kits range in two groups: “Small” and “Large”. The “Small” starter kit (generally for 4- to 6-year-olds) contains youth large shoulder pads, pants and elbow pads, 8" shin guards and gloves, and an x-small adjustable helmet. The “Large” starter kit (generally for 6- to 8-year-olds) contains junior small shoulder pads, pants, and elbow pads, 10" shin guards and gloves, and a small adjustable helmet.
Skates and hockey sticks are not included in the price of the class lessons or starter kit. Skates can be rented for $1.50 per class, or the Crystal Ice House offers a 12-rentals card for $12, which can be used for lessons or public skating. The Ice House can only provide hockey skates in sizes 1 and larger.
Jerry’s Pro Shop is conveniently located in the lobby of the Crystal Ice House; Jerry’s is your full-service hockey equipment facility. Call 815-479-0700 for current shop hours.
