Appreciation & Open Board Positions

After six years (2007-2013) of outstanding volunteer service to Fire Wagon Hockey Inc., Anne Biewald, Director of Team Support / Managers and Thomas Byrne, Director of Rules & Ethics have announced their retirement from Hockey Operation Advisory Board positions. It is our honor and pleasure to have the contributions of Anne and Thomas to help make Fire Wagon Hockey the organization it is today.

On behalf of the Executive and Hockey Operations Advisory Boards, we wish to thank Anne and Thomas for all that they have done.   We will miss their contributions, but wish them the best in their next life endeavors.

We are seeking people to fill these two Hockey Operations Advisory Board (HOAB) positions.

The HOAB board seeks passionate and energetic hockey parent/volunteer, committed to the continuous improvement of our hockey organization. Board member duties include attending monthly meetings and as needed working during organizational events.

Being a Board member fulfills the full volunteer requirement. Volunteer compliance is an expressed condition of participation in our organization. The appointed position and terms are two years in length, however term lengths may be adjusted to avoid significant turnover.

Job descriptions are as follows:   

Director Team Support / Managers

Communicates and directs Team Managers on matters that require their and or member participation.  Provide guidance and training sessions to Team Managers as needed, Coordinates with Hockey Operations Advisory Board President and Registrar with regards to maintaining Team Manager handbook.  Submit the necessary paperwork to USA Hockey for player patches.  Coordinate all activities between the photographer and our organization.  Arrange for orderly distribution of pictures to the families.  Maintain a file of pertinent information in order to maintain continuity with successor.   Ensure that each team has trained scorekeepers so that they can provide this duty at home games.  Set up and teach scorekeeping class(es) at the beginning of the season and if needed an additional class later in the season.  Coordination, support and set up of all potential YJ families regarding volunteering for any in-house event or activities such as Back to Skate “Puck Drop”, Meet the Teams, Hoctoberfest, Annual Food Drive, Jamborees, Tournaments and the year end Skills event.  Attend all public Board Meetings.

Director Rules & Ethics

Appoints R&E Committee with approval from the Hockey Operations Advisory Board President.  Meets monthly with committee to discuss R&E violations, investigations, hearings and punishments.  Coordinates with Hockey Operations President, Youth Hockey Director, Director of Coaching and Parent Education and Safety Coordinator regarding parent, coach and player disciplinary matters.  Communicates with players, families, coaches, team managers on a regular basis to insure R&E matters are dealt with in a timely, fair and consistent fashion. Writes and delivers, with approval from the President and the Designated League Representative summaries to AHAI, NIHL and NWHL and club presidents.  Attends all public Board Meetings.
